1984 Ford Mustang LX Convertible The third generation Mustang is frequently referred to as the Fox Body Mustang since it used the new Fox platform. Fox Body Mustangs were produced between 1979 and 1993, the longest generation of Mustang to date, though there were several significant body updates made throughout this generation. The Fox Body Mustangs were seen by many as a return to what worked for the first generation of Mustang, and a step away from the failings of the Mustang II. Though the Fox Body Mustangs were popular at their release, theyve only gained popularity in the years since then. The Fox Body has gained a reputation as a modders dream, and with the right modifications this fox can fly. Presenting a low mileage 5.0 Liter V8 powered Convertible with only 35,869 title verified actual miles! This car shows well, and goes well, and is a very nice example of a 1984 Fox Bodied Mustang. Exterior With a dark blue convertible top, and bathed in Dark Academy Blue, all steel panels are straight and show consistent gaps all around. Also noted is a belt line trim that appears as a stripe as it has 2 pieces, and a lighter thin pin stripe in the center. Badging is correct and clean, as is the dark blue canvas convertible top with clear rear window in glass. The bumpers are not marred and are in nice condition. 17 blacked out Cobra R wheels adron the 4 corners and as an added bonus, the factory TRX wheels and tires are included. Up front are dual rectangular headlights set deep within a black surrounding plastic bezel and in the back are flush mount wrap around style tail lights with integral marker and reverse lenses. Highly polished chrome exhaust tips peek out from underneath the body matching neoprene rear bumper cover. Interior Original and near showroom, the cloth interior in P8 code Cadet Blue shows buckets in front that have tuck and roll inserts, and plain bolsters, with open headrests. In the rear is a 2+2 bench which matches the patterns of the front. A padded light blue dash top and surrounds frame square and rectangle designed inserts for instruments, a glove box, and center console. At the front of the console we note a system sentry as well as an aftermarket Pioneer AM/FM/CD stereo, with the original radio included. Some of these elements are in white grid over gray, others in light blue. Power windows, power locks, and A/C, (R-134 retrofit), controls are throughout the cabin. Gray carpeting with carpet floor mats show in good condition, with the drivers side mat showing slight staining. Drivetrain The clean 5.0 Liter High Output Fuel injected V8 pumps out 175hp thanks to the CFI electronic fuel injection system and is attached to a Ford AOD 4-speed automatic. This combination pushes power back to a Ford 7.5 rear with 3.08 gears. Undercarriage Nice and clean, structurally sound and simply surface rust on the untreated components. Even in the lower doors where they meet the rockers, show as showroom with very good rubber linings, and absolutely no rust. A custom single to dual exhaust system has been installed and shows as nearly new. Power disc brakes upfront, and power drums for the rear and for the suspension we note an independent coil spring arrangement in the front and a 4 link with coil springs in the rear. Our consignor notes new gas shocks have been installed out back. Drive-Ability This car fired right up and handled the test track with flying colors. A great handler, and tight car, so a 2 thumbs up goes to it. Fox bodied Mustangs are increasing in popularity due to their return to more like the original Mustang concept of the early 1960s.
