This Z28 was delivered to a GM executive in August 1991 under the GM Performance Evaluation Program (PEP) to drive for a short period of time before being sold. This was one of the first 25 cars delivered out of 1,254 convertibles produced for the 1992 model year. I am the first registered owner, purchasing this car in October 1991 with approximately 1,500 miles on it. The car was ordered with every option (except the engine block heater) offered by Chevrolet at the time, including the rare (Z03) Heritage Package. This is an option that according to Haggarty Valuations is highly sought among collectors and adds 20% to the value of the car. This package includes hood/deck stripes, body color grille, black headlight pockets, 25th Anniversary emblems, and 16 aluminum wheels with body color inserts (see attached Camaro options guide and original window sticker). It is estimated only 266 convertibles were ordered with the Heritage Package and about a third of them in red.
This car was regularly driven in Michigan until about 2010. Since then, I drove it approximately 1,000 miles per year. It still drives extremely well. The engine runs strong and transmission shifts smoothly. It has NOT been modified, abused, or raced in any way and is totally stock (with one exception, I had the hood scoops painted red vs. black). The car has been meticulously cared for its entire life. I have for the past 30 plus years chronological documented every single repair and maintenance issue. Included with the car are all the associated handwritten summaries and maintenance/repair receipts. This can be reviewed when inspecting the car. This car also has a clean CarFax report. Note the report shows 2 owners, however this was just a transfer of ownership between myself and my wife.
Being the final year and 25th Anniversary car, this may be the most collectable of the Gen 3 Camaros. This car builds on that history adding extensive documentation, good provenance, and rarity.
