Gateway Classic cars of San Antonio/Austin is pleased to present this 1948 Chevrolet 3100 Thriftmaster 5-window pickup finished in a gorgeous Mercedes Benz Seafoam Green metallic. The name Thriftmaster covered the line of all 1947-1955 Chevrolet Advanced Design pickups that were under a 1-ton capacity and didnt designate a lower trim level but was a particularly 1940s way of describing a working-class vehicle. This is a build that was initially done by Merlin Swan of Swan Creations and has been a working labor of love ever since. Powered by a 350CID V8 that started off with a ATK Performance Engines Vortec block a set of ATK High Performance aluminum heads fitted with 2.02/1.60 valves and some 1.6 ratio billet aluminum roller rockers a Holley Hi-Rise aluminum intake topped with a Holley Sniper EFI setup this truck is ready to roll! Running the horses to the pavement is a newly reworked (documented 01/2023) 700R4 automatic transmission and into the 10-bolt Chevrolet rear end. A Mustang II front end a set of QA1 adjustable coil-overs a set of tubular uppers and some Wilwood 6-pistons w/ slotted/cross-drilled rotors up front keep everything under control. Inside the cab youll see the Seafoam paint carry over to the interior & nicely contrast the black vinyl covered low back buckets complete with a custom fabbed center console a cold blowing A/C system tilt steering power windows a high-boy automatic shifter and some throw back looking New Vintage USA Phoenix gauges giving this 48 an updated classic look. There is a lot to like about a 1948 5-window Chevy especially when they are nicely complimented with modern performance & comforts but not at the risk of losing the true classic look that these old 3100s are famous for!
